The Glamping Olympics 2024 is designed to be a fun, easy-going, and low-stakes event. Participation is completely optional – no one has to play if they don't want to. Our goal is to create an enjoyable experience where everyone feels included and can contribute to their team's success if they choose to. Here’s how it works:

Overview

  • Team Formation: Teams will be assigned beforehand using entire families so as not to divide households. This also keeps things balanced. At any time, trades can be made if needed, such as a kid wanting to play with his or her friend, for example.

  • Ad-Hoc Competitions: Throughout the weekend, teams can choose to compete at will. To initiate a competition, simply challenge another team member to an approved activity. This low-stakes approach means there’s no pressure—just friendly competition and fun. The results of these games will be recorded and tracked.

  • Main Events: On Friday and Saturday, there will be scheduled main events that carry higher point values (15 points each or to be decided). These events are designed to involve as many team members as possible, but participation is not mandatory. Players are encouraged to support their team during these times, but the primary goal is to have fun.

  • Winning: The team with the most points at the end of the weekend wins the Glamping Olympics and earns bragging rights.

    • The losing team's coach will have a bucket of cold water dumped over them or face another penalty decided by the group.

    • In case of a tie, a final tiebreaker event will be held, which will be decided by the captains.

Team Responsibilities

  • Captains: Each team will have a designated captain responsible for recording and reporting scores. Captains are also expected to encourage their team members and handle any disputes.

  • Disputes: Any disputes will be settled by the team captains. If a resolution cannot be reached, the issue will be escalated to the "High Circuit Court" of mothers/wives for a final decision.

Rule Book

1. Teams

  • Participants will be split into either 2 teams.

  • Each team will have a designated captain responsible for recording and reporting scores. Captains are also expected to encourage their team members and handle any disputes.

  • Roster can be found on this sheet: Glamping Olympics

2. Initiating Ad-Hoc Competitions

  • To initiate a competition, one team member must challenge another team to an approved game.

  • The challenging team must specify the game, the number of participants, the rules, and the criteria for winning.

  • Once the game is completed, the result must be reported to the team captains for score recording.

3. Points System

  • Set Events: These are scheduled team events with higher point values. Points to be decided by captains.

  • Ad-Hoc Games: Teams can challenge each other in various approved games outside of scheduled events. Points are awarded based on the number of participants:

    • 1 vs. 1: Winning team earns 1 point.

    • 2 vs. 2: Winning team earns 2 points.

    • 3 vs. 3: Winning team earns 3 points.

    • 4 vs. 4: Winning team earns 4 points.

    • 5 vs. 5: Winning team earns 5 points.

    • Mixed Teams: If players from different teams form a mixed team, the winning party will split the points evenly. For example, if a player from Team 1 and a player from Team 2 defeat players from Team 3 and Team 4, then Team 1 and Team 2 each get 1 point (for a 2 vs. 2 game).

4. Approved Games

  • A comprehensive list of approved games can be found here. This same Google Sheet will also be used to track scores. If you’d like to add a game, it must be approved by both captains.
